Biography
Jennifer Lynn Lopez (born July 24, 1969), nicknamed J.Lo, is an American actress, singer, record producer, dancer, television personality, fashion designer and television producer. She is the richest person of Latin American descent in Hollywood according to "Forbes." She parlayed her media fame into a fashion line and various perfumes with her celebrity endorsement. Lending her musical knowledge to others, Lopez is currently a member of the judging panel of American reality television competition "American Idol."
Lopez's debut album "On the 6" was released in June 1999. While the album entered the Top 5 in a number of countries including Germany, Canada and Switzerland, it managed to enter the Top 10 in the U.S., Netherlands, Austria and Belgium. The album has sold over seven million copies worldwide and produced five singles, including the Billboard Hot 100 #1 "If You Had My Love" and the Hot Dance Club Play #1 "Waiting for Tonight"
Lopez's second studio album "J.Lo" was released in January 2001. The album peaked at #1 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart, eventually being certified 4x platinum. Four singles were released off the album, "Love Don't Cost a Thing," "Play," "Ain't It Funny" and "I'm Real."
Lopez's first remix album "J to tha LO!" The Remixes" was released in February 2002. The album consisted of previously released singles which featured artists like Ja Rule on "Ain't It Funny (Murder Remix)" and Nas on "I'm Gonna Be Alright."
The following year in November 2002, Lopez released her third studio album "This Is Me... Then." The album peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart and was certified 2x platinum in the U.S. The album spawned four singles, the old school hip hop-influenced "Jenny from the Block" (featuring Styles P and Jadakiss), the Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper "All I Have" (featuring LL Cool J), and the soul-tinged tracks "I'm Glad" and "Baby I Love U!"
Her fourth studio album "Rebirth" was released in March 2005, and debuted at #2 on the U.S. Billboard 200 Albums chart, eventually being certified platinum. "Get Right" peaked at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Lopez's tenth Top 20 single in the U.S. It also peaked at #1 in numerous countries including on U.K. Singles Chart, becoming her first chart-topper in the U.K. since 2001's "Love Don't Cost a Thing."
Lopez released her first Spanish album "Como Ama una Mujer" in March 2007 and featured first Spanish single, entitled "Qué Hiciste." The album peaked at #10 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and #1 on the U.S. Top Latin Albums chart.
Just over six months later, in October 2007, Lopez's sixth studio album "Brave" was released. The album charted moderately almost everywhere it was released. "Do It Well" was released as the lead single from the album and debuted at #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart.
In 2011 she released "On the Floor" the first single from her album, "Love?" The single went to #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. "Love?" debuted at #5 on the Billboard 200 chart
Her contributions to the music industry have garnered her numerous achievements including two Grammy Award nominations, two Latin Grammy Award nominations, three American Music Awards, amongst six nominations, and the estimated sale of over 55 million records worldwide.
