Biography
The Jonas Brothers are an American pop boy band. The band gained its popularity from the Disney Channel children's television network.
From the shore region of New Jersey, the band consists of three brothers: Paul Kevin Jonas II (Kevin Jonas), Joseph Adam Jonas (Joe Jonas), and Nicholas Jerry Jonas (Nick Jonas). In the summer of 2008, they starred in the Disney Channel Original Movies "Camp Rock" and its sequel, "Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam." The band has released four albums: "It's About Time," "Jonas Brothers," "A Little Bit Longer" and "Lines, Vines and Trying Times."
In 2008, the group was nominated for the Best New Artist award at the 51st Grammy Awards and won the award for Breakthrough Artist at the American Music Awards. They have sold over eight million albums worldwide. Their debut studio album "It's About Time" was released on August 8, 2006 on Columbia Records. The album sold 62,000 copies in the US. After briefly being without a label, the Jonas Brothers signed with Hollywood Records in February 2007. Their self-titled second album was released on August 7, 2007. It reached number five on the Billboard Hot 200 chart in its first week.
The Jonas Brothers' third studio album, "A Little Bit Longer" was released in the United States on August 12, 2008. According to Nielsen SoundScan, the album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 selling 525,402 units in its opening week. The album also charted at #1 on the Billboard Comprehensive Albums, Top Digital Albums, Top Internet Albums, and Tastemakers charts. The album remained at number-one in its second week on the Billboard 200 (August 19August 26) with about 147,000 copies sold. In its third week, it fell to number four on the Billboard 200, with about 80,000 copies sold. It has sold 1.6 million copies in the U.S, receiving a platinum certification by the RIAA.
"Lines, Vines and Trying Timest," their fourth studio album, was released June 16, 2009 in the U.S. In its first week, "Lines, Vines and Trying Times" sold 247,000 copies, debuting at #1 on the Billboard 200. The album stayed on the Billboard 200 for 27 consecutive weeks.
